Lenoir-Rhyne's Evan Taylor, Carson-Newman's Corbin Ariail Named Baseball Players Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne’s Evan Taylor has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Carson-Newman’s Corbin Ariail earned league Pitcher of the Week honors announced conference officials Tuesday.
Taylor, a 6-2, 195-pound junior outfielder from Charlotte, N.C., earns Player of the Week honors for a second straight week. During the week, he batted .652 going 15-for-23 with seven RBI and eight runs scored. The Independence High School graduate went 4-for-5 with a double in the Bears’ 8-7 non-conference win over Catawba. In L-R’s three-game sweep over visiting Charleston (W.Va.), he went 9-for-13 against the Golden Bears, including a 4-for-5 effort in the series opener where he plated five runs.

Ariail, 6-4, 170-pound sophomore reliever from Elgin, S.C., recorded a pair saves in Carson-Newman’s three-game sweep of No. 22 Northern Kentucky. He came aboard in the series opener and pitched the final 4.2 innings in an 8-3 win over the nationally-ranked Norse where he scattered five hits, allowed two runs, one earned and struck out three. In his second appearance of the series, he went 2.1 innings,allowed two hits and posted a strikeout in a 6-4 C-N victory.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
