Lenoir-Rhyne's Griewisch Finishes Ninth In 10K National Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch ran a 35:24.47 to finish ninth out of 18 competitors in the 10,000-meter run at the 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Thursday night at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University.

The sophomore from Banner Elk, N.C., was one place off of earning All-America honors while Queens' Tanya Zeferjahn won the event with a 34:46.59.

Griewisch, L-R's record-holder in the 5K (17:17) and the 10K (35:10), finished her sophomore season as an All-American in women's cross country after placing 19th out of 184 competitors in the national championship this past fall.

Griewisch also won the 2009 South Atlantic Conference and NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meets and was named the SAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Year.
