ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba's Luke Setzer was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Hunter Morgan of Wingate was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 13-19, the League announced today.
Setzer, a junior from Salisbury, N.C., batted .714 with 10 hits and three home runs to lead the Catawba Indians to a series sweep over Shippensburg last week. He posted multiple hits in all three games he played in and highlighted his week with five hits, including a pair of long balls and a double in an 18-15 win in game one of the double-header on Feb. 18. He finished the series with five RBI, a .750 on base percentage and a slugging percentage of 1.500 in the three-game span. The award is his first Player of the Week selection this season.
Morgan, a junior from Summerfield, N.C., struck out six batters in a 3-1 complete game win over Columbus State on Feb. 19. After allowing a run in the fifth inning, Morgan gave up just one hit to the defending Peach Belt Champions over the last four innings to pick up his first career complete game win.
