ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Queens University of Charlotte and Wingate University both finished the regular season with identical 9-1 South Atlantic Conference records, earning a share of the SAC Regular Season Title, it was determined today as the Conference season came to an end this afternoon. This is the second consecutive regular season championship for the Royals, who will enter next week's SAC Men's Tennis Championship as the No. 1 seed, while the Bulldogs, who pick up their fourth regular season championship in the last five years, will be the No. 2 seed.
Lincoln Memorial University and Newberry College closed out the season with matching 7-3 conference records. The Railsplitters defeated the Wolves 6-3 during the regular season, making them the No. 3 seed and Newberry will be the No. 4 seed. Anderson University slides into the No. 5 spot with a 6-4 SAC record, while Tusculum College will be the No. 6 seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-5 record. Rounding out the field of eight teams will be Lenoir-Rhyne University in the No. 7 spot and Coker College in the No. 8 seed. Both teams finished the year with identical 4-6 records, but the Bears won the tiebreaker by virtue of a 7-2 win during the regular season.
The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday (April 18) before moving to the Cayce Tennis Center in Columbia, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on April 20 and 21. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
