Wingate, N.C.----Lincoln Memorial University senior Seth Hunt (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the
Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA),
officials announced Tuesday afternoon. UNC Pembroke senior right-hander Nile Ball (Decatur, Ga.) is the
NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
Hunt had a phenomenal week at the plate as he led the Railsplitters to a 3-0 record, including a SAC
series win over Carson-Newman. He hit .467 for the week, belting three-home runs with 11 RBI and
three runs scored. All three of his homers and seven RBI came in game one of LMU's series with Carson-
Newman, making him the first Railsplitter to ever hit three homers in a single game.
Ball was throwing mostly strikes as he picked up a complete-game win over Columbus State in the
opener of the three-game series. He allowed only one run on six hits with three walks and seven
strikeouts while going the distance, becoming one of only two pitchers with a complete-game
performance in a conference contest. Bell struck out the side in the second as he retired seven in a row
and set down the side again in the fourth and ninth.
