The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Football Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the fifth week of the spring season. Tusculum quarterback Rogan Wells was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Tusculum linebacker Jackson Cauthen was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Tusculum kicker Eli Shepherd picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Wells, a graduate student from Fort Mill, S.C., threw for a career-high 519 yards and five touchdowns in Tusculum's 49-17 win over Limestone. He connected on 33-of-48 pass for a 68.8 completion percentage, completing passes to 10 different receivers. He also rushed for 23 yards on eight carries, including a 13-yard touchdown run.
Cauthen, a senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., recorded a game-high 11 tackles, including three solo tackles and a tackle for loss in the Pioneer's 49-17 win over Limestone.
Shepherd, a sophomore from Greeneville, Tenn., accounted for seven of Tusculum's 49 points in its win over Limestone. He was a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts.
