South Atlantic Conference Announces Updates to SAC Pilot Flying J Basketball Championships
February 18, 2021

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference has announced the seeding format and spectator policies for the upcoming 2021 SAC Pilot Flying J Men's and Women's Basketball Championships.

The seedings for the basketball championships will be based on the final regular season winning percentage for all teams, regardless of the total number of SAC games played, following the last regular season games which will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

If a tie(s) exists in the regular  season standings the following criteria will be used to determine the tournament seeds:

  1. Head-to-head record among the tied teams.
  2. If a tie still exists, the total number of SAC games played will determine the higher seed.
  3. If a tie still exists, a comparison of each team's record against all remaining seeds in the tournament. The comparison of records will begin with the highest seed possible and continue all the way through the lowest seed, if necessary.
  4. If a tie still exists, the Commissioner shall conduct a coin flip.

In addition to the format for seeding of the tournament, the Athletics Council approved attendance policies for the tournament. The 2021 SAC Pilot Flying J Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games will be played on the campuses of the higher seeds throughout the tournament and will follow the host school's attendance policies.
