The South Atlantic Conference Announces Softball Players of the Week, Feb. 9
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Madison Carter was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Carley Tysinger from Catawba was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 1-7, the League announced today.
Carter, a sophomore from Bessemer City, N.C., posted a .769 average at the plate to go along with 10 hits and a .923 slugging percentage to lead the Bears to a 4-0 record last week. She posted multiple hits in each game she played in and notched three hits in a pair of contests. Her biggest game of the week came against Bluefield State on Feb. 7 as she notched three hits, two doubles, two RBI and one run scored. Carter also posted an on-base percentage of .786 in the four-game span. The award is her first Player of the Week nod this season.
Tysinger, a senior from Lexington, N.C., struck out 23 hitters in 12 innings of work to lead the Catawba Indians to a pair of wins last week. She got her week started with 10 strikeouts in four shutout innings in a win over Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 6. Tysinger followed that effort with 13 strikeouts in a complete game win over Armstrong State later that day. She surrendered no walks in her 12 innings-pitched and allowed just one earned run in her outings. The honor marks her first Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season.
