ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba's Kirstyn Kruse has been selected the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Cassie Williams of Coker has been selected as the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Mar. 6th – Mar. 12th, the League announced today.
Kruse, a senior from Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, led Catawba to a pair of wins last week against Charleston (WV) and Lincoln Memorial. She recorded seven goals on only eight shots last Monday in the 16-13 victory over Charleston (WV). Also in the victory, Kruse scored 3-of-3 on free position shots. Against Lincoln Memorial, she recorded three more goals and two assists to combine for five points accounted for in the competitive 17-16 victory. For the week, Kruse finished with ten goals, two assists, 3-of-3 free position shots, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Her shot percentage average came to a 76.9 percent mark and her shot on goal percentage for the week was 92.3 percent. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
Williams, a freshman from Rockledge, Florida led Coker to two wins last week posting a 100.0-win percentage. In the 21-10 victory against West Virginia Wesleyan she had six saves. Against Brevard, Williams came away with six saves to finish the dKay with a 60.0 save percentage. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
