ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum forward Jonathan Spicher has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 8-14, the League announced today.
Spicher, a sophomore from Cologne, Germany, posted a pair of game-winning goals last week to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record, including a win over Conference foe Queens. On Sept. 10 against King, Spicher put Tusculum on the board in the 66th minute as he connected on a shot over the keeper's head from 20 yards out. Tusculum added another goal to pick up a 2-1 win. Three days later against Queens, Spicher headed in a Tyler Linkous cross from eight yards out in the 86th minute to propel the Pioneers to a 2-1 win. The honor is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Also nominated for Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Magnus Larsen (Anderson), Jesse Omezi (Brevard), Kenny Bonilla (Catawba), Jordan Snell (Coker), Leonardo Da Silva (Lincoln Memorial), Nick Lucido (Newberry) and Charlie Machell (Wingate).
