The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Sept. 21

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum goalkeeper Jorge Alvarez has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 14-20, the League announced today.

Alvarez, a junior from Gijón, Spain, led the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last week as he recorded a shutout in each game in goal. In the South Atlantic Conference opener against Queens, Alvarez posted a season-high eight saves in Tusculum's 2-0 victory. Alvarez followed that performance with three saves against Barton to help the Pioneers to a 1-0 win. For the season, Alvarez sports a 1.00 goals against average to go along with a 4-1 record and three shutouts. The award is his first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
