The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week, Sept. 22
Lenoir-Rhyne midfielder Garcelle Alequine has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 15-21
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne midfielder Garcelle Alequine has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Sept. 15-21, the League announced today.
Alequine, a junior from Wilmington, Del., scored a pair of goals and notched one assist to lead the Bears to a 2-0 record last week, including a win over League foe Wingate. She got her week going with two goals in a 2-1 win over Belmont Abbey on Sept. 16. Her first goal of the contest came in the first minute as she buried a corner kick in the back of the net. In the 72nd minute vs. the Crusaders, Alequine took a Jessica Feronti assist and beat her defender to lift the Bears to the win. Four days later at Wingate, Alequine assisted on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 double-overtime win over the Bulldogs. The honor marks her first Player of the Week plaudit this season.
Also nominated for Women's Soccer Player of the Week: Maddie Volz (Anderson), Katy Hill (Carson-Newman), Mary Kirkman (Catawba), Michelle Hunter (Lincoln Memorial) and Marissa Williams (Tusculum).
