The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Feb. 24

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Bradley Brown was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Quinton Yocom of Carson-Newman was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 16-22, the League announced today.

Brown, a freshman from Rockingham, N.C., batted .583 with seven hits and three RBI to lead Wingate to a Conference series win over then No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne last week.  He posted a pair of three-hit games and highlighted his series with three hits, a home run and three RBI in the series-opening win on Feb. 21.  He finished the set with three doubles and a slugging percentage of 1.083.  The honor is his first Player of the Week selection this season.

Yocom, a senior from Cable, Ohio, struck out a career-best 12 Anderson hitters in a complete game shutout win over the Trojans on Feb. 20.  He scattered just three hits in the contest and allowed only two walks.  The award is his first Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season.
