ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne defender Makonnan Clare has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Oct. 13-19, the League announced today.
Clare, a junior from Syracuse, N.Y., found the back of the net twice to lift the Bears to a 2-1 win over Tusculum on Oct. 19. He got the Bears on the board in the 7th minute on a shot from 25 yards out to give Lenoir-Rhyne the early 1-0 lead. His second goal of the contest came in the 25th minute off a Ben Jones assist. The honor is his first Player of the Week honor this season.
Also nominated for Men's Soccer Player of the Week: Lars Zimmerman (Anderson), Sergi Monso (Brevard), Kyndle Cobb (Coker), Amine Merdjett (Mars Hill), Lucas Ferreira (Newberry), Roberto Pimentel (Tusculum) and Gui Peron (Wingate).
