ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate forward Jade Montgomery has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played Oct. 6-12, the League announced today.
Montgomery, a senior from Monroe, N.C., kicked in five goals and dished out one assist to lead Wingate to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week. She got her week going with her first hat-trick of the season in the 5-0 win over Coker on Oct. 8. Three days later at Brevard, Montgomery was involved in three scores as she posted a pair of goals and a helper to lead her squad to the 6-0 win. She now has 61 goals for her career to become just the sixth player in South Atlantic Conference history to score better than 60 goals. She needs just 10 scores to become the all-time leader in goals scored in the SAC record book. The honor marks her first South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week selection this season.
Also nominated for Women's Soccer Player of the Week: Faith Johannes (Anderson), Trah Monroe (Coker), Alayna Morris (Lenoir-Rhyne), Fernanda Miaci (Lincoln Memorial), Sabrina Serafin (Newberry), Ashley Osiecki (Queens) and Payton DeHart (Tusculum).
