WePlayed Sports Players of the Week - Oct. 13
Football
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Football Players of the Week for games played during week six of the 2025 season. Anderson's Bryson James was named the Offensive Player of the Week and his teammate Carter Wit was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Wingate's Jake Snapp was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
James, a redshirt sophomore from Cross Hill, S.C., nearly doubled his program record for most rushing yards in a single game as he ran for 221 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans 35-28 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. James produced 221 yards on just 20 carries, averaging 11.1 yards per rush. He had a 73-yard touchdown run to even the game at 14 in the second quarter and then exploded for a 70-yard TD to put Anderson up 35-21 late in the fourth quarter. He added one catch for 14 yards.
Wit, a sophomore from Johns Creek, Ga., also played a significant role in the win at LR as he accounted for 10 total tackles with six being of the solo variety. He added a clutch interception at the 1-yard line with the game tied at 14 late in the first half. Wit also added a pass break up in the victory.
Snapp, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., accumulated 99 return yards as Wingate defeated Catawba 41-28 on Saturday night. He had 66 yards on two kickoff returns and another 33 yards on three punt returns. He had a 46-yard kickoff return to set up Wingate on a scoring drive while his longest punt return of the night stretched 14 yards.

Volleyball
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during week six of the 2025 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Emmie Modlin was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Wingate's Maddie Hoffman brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Modlin, a senior from Pinehurst, N.C., posted triple-doubles in both of Lenoir-Rhyne's matches last week. Against first-place Wingate, Modlin totaled 15 kills, 26 assists and 19 digs while adding a block. In a win over Newberry, she added 17 kills, 23 assists and 15 digs with two blocks. For the week, she hit .247 with 32 kills, 49 assists and 34 digs. Her three triple-doubles on the season ranks her third in the nation in that category.
Hoffman, a senior from Fenton, Mo., led the #19 Bulldogs to a big 3-0 week in league play, as they remained perfect in SAC play and pushed their winning streak to 15. Hoffman piled up 54 digs in the three wins, good for 5.40 digs per set while adding 11 assists and four aces. She had 20 digs in the big 3-1 win at LR Tuesday as Wingate held the Bears to a .114 hitting percentage. Hoffman needed just three sets to pick up 21 digs against UVA Wise Friday, adding six assists and an ace. She celebrated Senior Day with 13 more digs in Saturday's sweep, adding three assists and three aces.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Swimmers of the Week for meets competed in during the week of October 4–12, 2025. Catawba's Maks Minichowski was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week, while Catawba's Eniko Onofer was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Men's Swimmer of the Week – Maks Minichowski, Catawba

Minichowski turned in a dominant performance in the Catawba Indians' win over Division I Gardner-Webb, capturing four first-place finishes on the day. He won the 100 Freestyle (44.76) and 200 Freestyle (1:38.69), while also helping the Indians to victories in both the 200 Medley Relay (1:29.93) and 400 Freestyle Relay (3:02.05).
Minichowski helped Catawba climb to No. 7 in the national SwimCloud rankings, the highest in program and conference history.
Women's Swimmer of the Week – Eniko Onofer, Catawba
(Jr., Kistarcsa, Hungary)
Onofer powered Catawba to its fourth consecutive victory over Division I Gardner-Webb, winning four events in the meet. She claimed individual titles in the 100 Backstroke (56.86) and 100 Butterfly (56.34) while helping the Indians to relay wins in the 200 Medley Relay (1:44.43) and 400 Freestyle Relay (3:29.76).
Onofer contributed to Catawba's No. 7 national ranking in the SwimCloud standings.

Men's Soccer
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week four of the 2025 season. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the week, with Voro Peris named the Offensive Player of the Week and Tomas Fontes bringing home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Peris, a senior from Valencia, Spain, picked up an assist and a goal on a 2-0 week. He assisted a goal against Wingate, and scored the game winning goal in 1-0 win over Coker.
Fontes, a senior from Arouca, Portugal, posted two shutouts on a 2-0 week for the Bears. He made two saves in a 2-0 win at Wingate. Fontes faced nine shots and made five saves in a 1-0 win against Coker. This was the first back-to-back wins of the season for the Bears.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week four of the 2025 season. Catawba's Morgan Delair was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Coker's Rhyan Parkin brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Delair, a senior from Kannapolis, N.C., recorded two goals and an assist with four shots on goal in #8 Catawba's 6-1 win over Tusculum on Saturday. Catawba ranks third in the SAC in goals and points.
Parkin, a junior from Huntersville, N.C., played a huge part in the Cobras' tie against Lenoir-Rhyne as she registered 11 saves in the match. For the week, she recorded 14 saves and a .933 save percentage while leading the Cobras to a 1-0-1 week.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Field Hockey Players of the Week for games played during the week of October 6–12, 2025. Newberry's Emma Westbrook was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Ayanda Mangenah was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week – Emma Westbrook, Newberry

Westbrook led the Wolves to a pair of victories, including a win over a nationally ranked opponent. She totaled four goals and eight points across the week, netting one goal in a 9–1 win over Lincoln Memorial before recording a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 3–2 victory over No. 7 Lander. With her performance, Westbrook became Newberry's all-time leader in career points, helping the Wolves strengthen their position among the nation's top Division II programs.
Defensive Player of the Week – Ayanda Mangenah, Newberry

Mangenah anchored Newberry's defense in its 3–2 win over No. 7 Lander, guiding the No. 3-ranked Wolves to yet another ranked victory. She played all 60 minutes in goal, allowing just two scores while recording a key save to preserve the win. Her leadership and composure under pressure helped the Wolves hold off a late rally from one of the country's top offenses, solidifying Newberry's defensive identity against elite competition.

Anderson's Elliot Dotson was named the Men's Runner of the Week, while Catawba's Madi Clay was named the Women's Runner of the Week.

Dotson delivered a standout performance at the UAH Chargers Invitational, finishing second overall out of 272 runners with a time of 24:14.0 on the 8K course. His strong effort led the Trojans to the team title in a 26-team field, helping Anderson earn another statement victory in one of the region's deepest races.
Women's Runner of the Week – Madi Clay, Catawba
(Sr., Morganton, N.C.)
Clay was the top collegiate finisher at the Queens Royals Challenge, taking second overall with a 5K time of 17:15.79. The senior's performance marked one of the fastest times in the SAC this season and continued her strong campaign leading Catawba against a highly competitive field of regional and Division I opponents.

Wingate sophomore Amely Bochaton continued her dominant fall campaign with back-to-back top-three finishes, helping the Bulldogs capture two more team titles. She won the St. Simons Intercollegiate with a seven-under-par 209 (72–70–67) and followed with a third-place finish at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial after carding a six-under 210 (75–69–66). Bochaton averaged 69.83 strokes per round during the two events and has now posted 11 rounds of par or better in 12 total rounds this season.
Men's Golfer of the Week
Brandon Skidmore, Wingate

Wingate sophomore Brandon Skidmore earned his first collegiate victory at the AU/Erskine Currahee Invitational, shooting 69–67–68 for a 12-under-par 204 to win a playoff for medalist honors. He followed that performance with a top-20 finish at the prestigious Copperhead Championship, carding 71–75–70 for a three-over-par 216. Skidmore averaged 70.0 strokes per round for the week and led the Bulldogs to a commanding 23-shot team victory at Currahee.
