Carson-Newman Secures Back-to-Back Beach Volleyball Regular Season Titles; Seeds Announced for Tournament
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – For the second consecutive regular season, Carson-Newman went a perfect 10-0 to secure the back-to-back South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Regular Season Beach Volleyball Championship. The Eagles wrapped up the title and the No. 1 seed for this week's SACC Beach Volleyball Championship with a 4-0 mark during the final conference weekend.
The tournament will be conducted using a three-team pool play, single round-robin format. All matches will utilize a best-of-three sets format.
The Eagles advance to pool play in the driver's seat, leading Pool A and facing the No. 5 and No. 4 seeds on Friday.
The No. 2 seed belongs to Erskine, which finished fifth a season ago but improved by five wins in conference play to post an 8-2 record. The Flying Fleet will head up Pool B and face the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds on Friday.
The No. 3 seed belongs to Tusculum, which will host the championship in Greeneville this weekend. The Pioneers have gone 6-4 in league play in each of the last two seasons and advanced to the championship match a season ago, pushing Carson-Newman to the final set before falling.
Wingate enters as the No. 4 seed thanks to a tiebreaker over Catawba. Both the Bulldogs and Indians finished 3-7 in conference play and split the head-to-head series. The tiebreaker went to Wingate based on match record within the duals, as the Bulldogs won six of the 10 sets between the two to claim the No. 4 seed. Catawba will be the No. 5 seed.
The final spot goes to Emmanuel, which finished 0-10 in conference play.
