Tusculum’s Rosa, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Beane Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Tusculum catcher Christian Rosa (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) and Lenoir-Rhyne pitcher Jesse Beane (Collettsville, NC) have been named conference player and pitcher of the week, the league announced today.
Despite rainy conditions last week, Rosa and the Pioneers of Tusculum College managed to win five-of-six games, including two wins over Stillman College, one win over the University of Montevallo, and a two-of-three South Atlantic Conference series win over Newberry College this weekend.
For the week, Rosa hit and incredible .667 at the plate with 16 hits, four doubles, one triple, three homeruns and seven RBI. All together, Rosa was 16-for-24 at the plate for the week, scoring 14 runs.

Although Beane and the Bears lost their first two conference games of the year this weekend against Lincoln Memorial University and won only 2-of-5 games this week, Beane made three appearances on the mound, pitching 9.2 innings, allowing only six hits and no runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts. While the losses to Lincoln Memorial were conference losses, the Bears still stand atop the South Atlantic Conference race at 7-2 on the year.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
