Catawba Blanks Newberry, Stays Unbeaten in Southeast Regional

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Hunter Shepherd threw shutout ball into the sixth and drove in the game's first two runs as Catawba stayed unbeaten at the NCAA II Southeast Region 2 Tournament, defeating host Newberry 7-0 on Friday night at the Smith Road Complex. The third-seeded Catawba Indians improve to 44-12 and will face Young Harris on Saturday at 3:30 pm for a chance to advance to the Southeast Super Regional. Lincoln Memorial Shutout by North Greenville, 7-0

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters collected five hits, but were unable to score a run as the top-seeded North Greenville Crusaders handed the Railsplitters their first loss of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Friday (May 17) night, 7-0. 

The two teams will take the field in a rematch tomorrow at 4 p.m. at North Greenville. An LMU loss will eliminate the Railsplitters from the tournament, while a Railsplitter win will force an if necessary game at 8 p.m.
