The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill's Tyler Lala was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Anderson's Joseph Cottone was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week three of the 2022 season, the Conference office announced today.

Lala, a senior infielder from Tampa, Fla., led the Lions to a 3-1 week, including a three-game sweep of Augusta. He batted .450 with three doubles, four home runs, six runs scored, and 11 RBIs. Seven of Lala's nine hits were for extra bases and he finished the week with a 1.200 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage.

Cottone, a junior from Bethpage, N.Y., went 2-0 on the mound for the Trojans picking up wins against Emmanuel and Clarion. He threw an inning of relief and picked up the win versus Emmanuel holding the Lions hitless and allowing no runs with two strikeouts. He then threw six innings and got the win against Clarion scattering four hits with one earned run and 12 strikeouts.
