The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker's Phill Griffor was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Mars Hill's AJ Chacon was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week four of the 2022 season, the Conference office announced today.
Griffor, a senior shortstop from China, Mich., was nearly unstoppable at the plate last week as he led the Cobras to a 3-1 record, including a three-game sweep of UVA Wise to open SAC play. He hit .706 with two doubles, five runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base for the week, and was 12-for-17 with a slugging percentage of .824 and an on-base percentage of .737.
Chacon, a senior left-hander from Tampa, Fla., went the distance in his lone outing of the week for the Lions, leading them to a 7-0 win over SAC foe Limestone. He threw a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and no runs over seven innings with seven strikeouts.
