Top Seeds Advance at Day One of Baseball Opening Round
Top seeds all took care of business in day one of the SAC Baseball Opening Weekend hosted by Catawba and Wingate with the only upset coming with #5 LMU taking down #4 Mars Hill. Day two at Wingate has been pushed back to a 2 pm start while Catawba will begin on time at 11 am as three more games are scheduled for day two.

Bulldogs win 11-inning thriller over Newberry in SAC opener
Wingate, N.C.----Neil Griffin's walk-off sacrifice fly gave second-seeded Wingate University a 7-6 eleven-inning victory over seventh-seeded Newberry on day one of the South Atlantic Conference baseball tournament Friday afternoon at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. The Bulldogs improve to 35-16 overall, moving into the winner's bracket, set to take on Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday at 2 p.m. The Wolves fall to 27-24 overall and will face Carson-Newman in an elimination game Saturday at 6 p.m.
Gradisar leads Bears to SAC opening game victory over Carson-Newman
WINGATE, N.C. - Kellen Gradisar shines when it matters most. The junior threw eight innings on Friday, allowing no runs and four hits while striking out six.
The Bears scored one run in the second, seventh, and eighth innings to give them their final tally. Matt Procopio went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored to lead the Bears.
LMU takes down Mars Hill in first game of SAC Baseball Championship
Salisbury, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial baseball team secured a gritty opening round victory in the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship on Friday, defeating Mars Hill University 4-2 at the tournament site hosted by Catawba. Facing an early deficit after the Lions plated unearned runs in the first and second innings, the Railsplitters relied on timely power hitting and an exceptional performance from the bullpen to turn the tide. With the win, Lincoln Memorial advances in the bracket to face top-seeded Catawba on Saturday morning at 11 AM.
