Tusculum’s Ra’Shun Judge Named National Football Player of Week
LIBERTY, Mo. --- Tusculum College's Ra'Shun Judge has been named D2.Football.com Pizza Hut National Special Teams Player of the Week announced College officials Tuesday morning. Tusculum senior punter Cory Newton also received national honorable mention recognition for his efforts in the Pioneers' 46-18 road win at Concord University on Saturday.
Judge, a senior from Hueytown, Ala., was a one-man wrecking crew on special teams as he blocked a school-record four kicks in the game, including all three of Concord's extra points. Two of those blocked extra points resulted in defensive point after touchdown returns for the Pioneers. Judge also blocked a punt, while recording a pair of pass break-ups in the win.
Newton, a Spring Lake, N.C. senior, established a pair of school records averaging 50.3 yards on his seven punts, including a 78-yarder, the longest boot in Pioneer history.
Tusculum (1-0) returns to action this Saturday night as they
host nationally-ranked North Alabama for a 7:30 p.m. contest. It
will be the Pioneers' home opener and the Lions' first game of
2004.
