Presbyterian’s Mull, Tusculum’s Love Named D2Football.com National Special Teams Players of Week
Two SAC member schools had student-athletes recognized by D2football.com for their performances last Saturday. Presbyterian College kicker/punter Stuart Mull has been named the National Special Teams Player of the Week, and Tusculum College's Octavius Love earned Special Teams Honorable Mention honors.
Mull, a 6-0, 199-pound sophomore from Morganton, N.C. (Freedom HS) played a key role in Presbyterian's 37-7 victory over No. 22 Catawba. The Freedom High School graduate punted seven times for 386 yards for a 42.9 average. In addition, six of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line and two punts were fair caught. Mull, who also handles PC's placekicking duties, went 4-for-4 on his extra-point attempts.
Mull earned South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Love, a 5-11, 190-pound sophomore from Wellford, S.C., established a pair of school single-game records in Tusculum's 10-7 home loss to Wingate University on Saturday.
Love recorded a school record seven punt returns for a TC best 132 yards. His 62-yard punt return for a touchdown was the fourth longest return in Tusculum history.
On the day, he averaged 18.9 yards on his seven punt returns.
The Pioneers (2-2, 0-1 in South Atlantic Conference) return to action on Saturday when they travel to Clinton, S.C. to face Presbyterian College (4-1, 1-0 SAC).
