ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The South Atlantic Conference Football
Players of the Week have been announced for the week ending October
17, 2010. Mars Hill College running back Jonas Randolph was named
Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate University defensive
end Jack Taylor was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Wingate
University placekicker RP Lopez was named Special Teams Player of
the Week.

Jonas Randolph, Mars Hill College

Mars Hill running back Jonas Randolph led the Lions to a 48-36
victory over Newberry Saturday to put the Lions in sole possession
of first place in the SAC. Randolph rushed for 33 times for 183
yards and two scores, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He also set a
new school record for most career all-purpose touchdowns with
30.

SAC Defensive Player Of The Week
Jack Taylor, Wingate University

Wingate redshirt junior defensive end Jack Taylor had two of the
Bulldogs' four QB sacks Saturday, helping Wingate defeat Tusculum
33-27 at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field. Taylor
contributed five solo tackles on the day.Taylor had one assist to
give him six total tackles Saturday. He added 2.5 tackles for loss
to his ledger. The Bulldogs held Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell
without a TD pass. The Wingate contest was Cordell's first game
without a touchdown pass since Oct. 10, 2009, when he came up empty
in a 27-24 SAC road loss to Brevard College. On the 2010 season,
Taylor has 35 tackles (15 solo, 20 assists), nine tackles for loss
(minus-48) and four QB sacks (minus-36). He has also recorded three
quarterback hurries.

SAC Special Teams Player Of The Week
RP Lopez, Wingate University

Wingate redshirt senior place kicker RP Lopez kicked a
career-high four field goals Saturday as the Bulldogs defeated
Tusculum 33-27 at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field. He
set the school record for points in a single game by a kicker with
15. Lopez made field goals from 32, 23, 29 and 27 yards Saturday.
He also converted three-of-three extra points. On the 2010 season,
Lopez has not missed a kick. He is six-for-six on field goals and
19-for-19 on extra points. In 2009, he set the school record for
extra points in a season with 40.
