Catawba, Wingate, Carson-Newman In NCAA Football Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Football Committee has released this year's first poll, and three South Atlantic Conference teams are included in the top 10.
Catawba College is ranked third in the first poll. The Indians are 6-2 overall, with all games coming against Division II opponents. Wingate University is fourth. The Bulldogs are also 6-2 overall and against Division II opponents. Carson-Newman College is ninth. The Eagles are 6-3 overall, with a 5-3 record against Division II teams.
Six teams from Super Region Two will be selected for the NCAA
Football Championship. The top two seeds in each selection region
(super regional) will receive a
bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Selections will be made Sunday, November 14.
