Game Notes: Mars Hill is coming off a 38-28 loss
to Catawba. Wingate is coming off a 27-24 victory over
Lenoir-Rhyne. Wingate quarterback Cody Haffly threw for five
touchdown passes in last year's contest against the Lions. Mars
Hill running back Jonas Randolph rushed for 188 yards last week and
leads the SAC, averaging 124.9 yards per game. Mars Hill
quarterback has thrown for more than 2,000 yards this season, a
school record. Wingate's Haffly has thrown for 2,490 yards this
season and ranks second in the SAC. The Bulldogs will celebrate
Sports Hall of Fame Day against Mars Hill. In addition, Wingate
will honor 17 seniors in pre-game festivities. Wingate has won
three of the last four contests in the rivalry. Last year, the
Bulldogs won a wild 56-35 decision at Mars Hill. In the 2009
contest, the two teams combined for 972 yards of total offense.
Wingate accumulated 520 yards, while Mars Hill tallied 452 total
yards.

Game Notes: Tusculum is coming off its first
conference victory, beating Brevard 51-35. Catawba beat Mars Hill
38-28. The Indians are currently ranked No. 3 in the NCAA Super
Region 2 Poll.Josh Wright ran for over 100 yards for the third time
in four weeks for the Indians. Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell
threw for 408 yards and seven touchdowns in last week's win.
Tusculum continues boasts the No. 1 passing attack in the country
averaging 418.22 yards per game. Catawba will counter with the top
pass defense in the conference, allowing just over 200 yards per
contest. Eight of the last 10 meetings have been decided by eight
points or less. Catawba defensive back Jumal Rolle leads the SAC in
fumbles recovered per game (0.38) and passes defended per game
(1.38 avg). Earlier this season, Rolle was namd the D2football.com
National Defensive Player of the Week.

Game Notes: Brevard is looking for its first conference
victory. The Tornados are coming off a 51-35 loss to Tusculum last
week. Newberry is coming off a 35-13 loss to Carson-Newman last
week. Brevard ranks second in the country (behind Carson-Newman) in
rushing yards per game at 299.8 yards per game. The Tornados are
led by freshman running back Kelvin Jeter, who has already broke
the school's single season rushing record and is poised to eclipse
the 1,000-yard mark in this game. Jeter has carried the ball 105
times for 930 yards, an average of 8.9 yards per carry. Newberry
wide receiver David Pressley is close to breaking several records
as well. Pressley needs just 87 yards to break Tymere Zimmerman's
school record for receiving yards in a season and just 109 yards to
become the first Newberry player to have 1,000 yards for this
season. He has six games of over 100 yards and three games of over
150 yards this season and will be going against a Brevard secondary
that allows over 200 passing yards a game.

in scoring defense (21.3 ppg), total defense (279.3 ppg), rushing
defense (75.6 ppg), pass efficiency defense (116.6), opponent first
downs (139) and quarterback sacks (33). Carson-Newman has won 31
straight games in the series with the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne led the
Eagles for three quarters in last year's contest.
