Wingate, Carson-Newman Set for Primetime Battle on CBS Sports Network

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Wingate and Carson-Newman will do battle in front of a national audience on Thursday night, as the SAC football matchup will be televised live on the CBS Sports Network. Coverage is set to begin at 8 p.m. (EST).
Carson-Newman enters the game 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the SAC, while Wingate is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. The Bulldogs won last week at Brevard, 43-12, while the Eagles fell to unbeaten Newberry on the road, 47-22.

Carson-Newman and Wingate boast two of the SAC's most potent offenses. Wingate is second in the conference in passing offense, throwing for an average of 317.5 yards per game. Carson-Newman, meanwhile, leads the league in rushing offense – and is second in the nation – with an average of 347.33 yards per game.
Thursday night will mark the fourth contest of the 2012 NCAA Division II CBS Sports Network Game of the Week package, and the first and only to showcase SAC teams.

CBS Sports Network is available to 99 million homes nationwide. In addition to the NCAA Division II football game of the week package, the network's content includes coverage of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship and programming from multiple Division I conferences.
The network's Thursday night coverage will be anchored by play-by-play analyst Brad Johansen, color analyst Doug Chapman and sideline reporter Lisa Byington.
