SAC Announces Weekly Football Awards
After a record-setting Saturday of SAC football, Wingate wide receiver Chris Bowden, Lenoir-Rhyne defensive back Michael Green and Wingate special teams standout Cory McNulty have been selected as the league's Players of the Week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – After a record-setting Saturday of SAC football, Wingate wide receiver Chris Bowden, Lenoir-Rhyne defensive back Michael Green and Wingate special teams standout Cory McNulty have been selected as the league's Players of the Week.
Bowden, the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, set a pair of Wingate single-game records against Mars Hill with 16 catches for 262 yards. His 262 yards were also the sixth-highest single-game total in SAC history.
Bowden also hauled in a pair of touchdowns in the game, and became WU's all-time leader in receptions with 214.
The senior currently ranks second in Division II in receptions per game (9.50) and receiving yards per game (127.50).

Green led a dominant effort from the Lenoir-Rhyne defense in a 34-6 victory at Brevard to receive the league's Defensive Player of the Week award.
The junior, who receives the honor for the second-straight week, finished with six tackles and two fumble recoveries as L-R limited Brevard to just 219 yards of total offense.
McNutty earned SAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades after blocking two punts in Wingate's loss to Mars Hill on Saturday. He splits time on special teams and as a wide receiver in the Bulldogs' prolific offense.
The sophomore's first blocked punt led to a Wingate touchdown.
