Week 7 SAC Football Players of the Week Announced
Student-athletes from three of Saturday’s winning SAC football teams have been selected as the league’s Players of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Student-athletes from three of Saturday's winning SAC football teams have been selected as the league's Players of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Mars Hill quarterback Jon Richt was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 370 yards and four touchdowns in the Lions' 35-28 win over Catawba.
Richt's 370 yards were a Mars Hill single-game record, as were his 33 completions and 50 attempts. He completed passes to seven different receivers.
Behind Richt, Mars Hill has won five-straight games and is unbeaten in SAC play at 4-0.

SAC Defensive Player of the Week Jared Seate led Wingate to a 27-10 win over Newberry on Saturday, improving the Bulldogs to 3-1 in the conference.
Seate anchored a dominant Wingate defense in the win, finishing with a game-high 14 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss. The senior linebacker also recorded a pass breakup.
WU held Newberry to just 71 rushing yards in the game.
Carson-Newman kicker Curt Duncan was picked as the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week after an impressive day of controlling field position in the Eagles' 52-10 win over North Greenville.
Duncan kicked off seven times, recording four touchbacks and limiting NGU's average starting field position to its own 22 yard line.
The junior was also a perfect 6-for-6 on PATs in the blowout victory.
