ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate quarterback Robbie Nallenweg, Mars Hill linebacker Sammy Siasia and Mars Hill kicker Victor Yurco have been voted as the SAC Football Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
SAC Football Offensive Player of the Week | Robbie Nallenweg, Wingate QB
Nallenweg went 24-of-28 for 273 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday as Wingate returned to .500 with a 43-24 win over Brevard. He eclipsed the 5,000 career passing yards mark in the performance while hitting eight different receivers.
Nallenweg's touchdowns came from 48 yards, 34 yards, seven yards and five yards out. The senior now leads the nation in completion percentage, having connected 74.3-percent of his attempts this season. He also ranks second in the SAC with 12 touchdowns and third in passing yards per game at 246.7.
SAC Football Defensive Player of the Week | Sammy Siasia, Mars Hill LB
Siasia was a menace for Mars Hill in a 34-31 non-conference win over North Greenville, matching the game-high with 12 tackles while adding a sack and an interception. The interception – which Siasia returned 23 yards – set up a second-quarter field goal that gave MHU the lead for good.
Siasia was also key in helping the Lions hold NGU to just 79 total rushing yards. His 80 tackles and eight tackles-for-loss this season both rank third in the conference.
SAC Special Teams Player of the Week | Victor Yuko, Mars Hill K
Yurco connected on both field goal attempts and all four extra points on Saturday, accounting for 10 points in Mars Hill's three-point victory against NGU. He made field goals of 31 and 30 yards, and also booted two kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
On the season, Yurco is 5-of-6 on field goals and 16-of-18 on extra points. His five field goals are currently second-most in the SAC.
