Newberry Receiver, Lenoir-Rhyne Duo Earn SAC Football Player of the Week Awards
Newberry wide receiver Corey Washington, Lenoir-Rhyne defensive lineman Jimmy Long and L-R kicker Zach Neumann have been selected as the SAC Football Players of the Week after guiding their teams to key conference victories on Saturday.

SAC Football Offensive Player of the Week | Corey Washington, Newberry WR
Washington had four receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday as Newberry remained in contention for a share of the SAC title with a 28-21 win over Brevard.
Washington had touchdown receptions of six and 67 yards in the first half before later hauling in the eventual game-winning score from 29 yards out in the fourth quarter. Washington followed the late score by catching a two-point conversion to give the Wolves a seven-point advantage.
The senior became just the fifth player in Newberry history to catch three touchdowns in a single game. He leads the SAC in touchdown receptions this season with 11.
SAC Football Defensive Player of the Week | Jimmy Long, Lenoir-Rhyne DL
Long filled up the stat sheet on Saturday as Lenoir-Rhyne's defense dominated Carson-Newman in a 37-3 victory, clinching at least a share of the SAC title for the Bears.
The senior finished with nine tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble as L-R held Carson-Newman to 286 yards below its season rushing average entering the game.
Long is currently tied for second in the SAC with 6.5 sacks and is fifth in tackles-for-loss with 10.
SAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week | Zach Neumann, Lenoir-Rhyne K
Neumann had a perfect day for the Bears against Carson-Newman, connecting on all three field goals and all four extra points. Each of his field goals came from over 40 yards, including a career-long 47 yarder in the fourth quarter.
Neumann is 10-of-12 on field goals and 32-of-34 on extra points this season while ranking second in the SAC with 62 points.
