Catawba’s Kitchen Named Region Defensive Player of the Year; 15 Total Student-Athletes Named All-Region
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference picked up the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association Southeast Region Player of the Year honor as Catawba's Kyle Kitchens was named the region's Defensive Player of the Year.
Kitchens, a sophomore, piled up a South Atlantic Conference leading 13 sacks on the season and posted 23 stops for losses. His sack total is second at Catawba to just DeVonte Peterson's 14.5 in a season. Kitchens totaled 65 tackles on the year with two forced fumbles and three recoveries. He returned his lone interception 90 yards for a touchdown against Mars Hill.
The League also had a total of 15 student-athletes named to the All-Region teams with 10 on the first-team and five on the second. Below is a look at the players who were honored.
