The South Atlantic Conference Announces Football Elite 20 Honoree

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate University redshirt sophomore tight end Wade Johnson (Holly Springs, N.C.) is the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Elite 20 honoree for football, league officials announce Saturday. This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 20 team championship sports.

 

Johnson, a redshirt sophomore from Holly Springs, N.C., sports a 3.910 GPA with his marketing major. This year, the tight end has played in every game as the Wingate Bulldogs have won their second South Atlantic Conference football championship. The son of Chris and Paige Johnson, Wade Johnson is a two-time South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
