Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate Earn Bids to the NCAA Division II Football Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (theSAC.com) – The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears and the Wingate Bulldogs will represent the South Atlantic Conference in the NCAA Division II Football Championship, the NCAA announced today.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be the No. 3 seed in Super Region 2, while Wingate will be the No. 7 seed.
The No. 17 Bears will host the No. 6 seed Florida Tech Panthers in the first round on Nov. 17 in Hickory, N.C. The Bulldogs will travel to Carrollton, Ga. to take on the No. 2 seed West Georgia. Both games will start at 1 p.m.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished the regular season with a record of 10-1, winning 10 consecutive games, while Wingate closed out the season on a six game winning streak, finishing the season with a record of 8-3.
The championship game will be played December 15, at 4 p.m. Eastern time at McKinney ISD Stadium in McKinney, Texas and will be broadcast live on ESPNU HD/ESPN3.com.
