The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the final week of the 2019 season.  Wingate running back Domineke McNeill was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Carson-Newman linebacker Trayzel Jureidinin-Wyche was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Wingate return man RaQuan Simmons picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors. 

McNeill, a senior from Durham, N.C., led the No. 17 Bulldogs to a 64-34 win over Mars Hill on Saturday. He carried the ball just 11 times, racking up 130 yards and three touchdowns. For the day he averaged 11.8 yards per carry and had an 83-yard touchdown run, the third longest in Wingate history. This is McNeil's first offensive player of the week award of the season.

Jureidini-Wyche, a sophomore from Douglasville, Ga., helped guide the Eagles to a 49-13 win over Tusculum last week. He anchored a defense that held the Pioneers to negative 34 yards rushing, while making eight tackles, including six solo tackles. He also added 4.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. This is Jureidini-Wyche's first defensive player of the week accolade of the year.

Simmons, a sophomore from North Charleston, S.C., piled up 148 return yards in the No. 17 Bulldogs 64-34 win over Mars Hill. Highlighting his impressive game was a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. For the day he averaged 37 yards per return. This is Simmons first special teams player of the week honor of the season.
