The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Football Players of the Week for games played during week 11 of the 2023 season.  Barton running back Jordan Terrell was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate defensive lineman Marquise Fleming was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Catawba kicker Bryson Sims picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Terrell, a junior from Ramseur, N.C., led the Bulldogs to a 48-14 win over Erskine by rushing for a school and conference record 403 yards on 44 carries with four touchdowns. He averaged 9.2 yards per carry, including a 65-yard scamper for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Terrell finished just 22 yards shy of the NCAA Division II single-game rushing record and he leads the nation in rushing yards with 1,732 on the season. 

Fleming, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., led the Bulldogs to a 27-0 win over UVA Wise to close out the 2023 season. He had 11 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. Fleming leads the nation in sacks with 14.

Sims, a freshman from Thomasville, N.C., led the Catawba Indians to a 24-14 win over Carson-Newman to close out the season. He was perfect on his extra point attempts, going three-for-three, and he nailed a 25-yard field goal accounting for six Catawba points in the contest.
