WePlayed Sports Football Players of the Week Announced - Week Ten
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Football Players of the Week for games played during week ten of the 2024 season. Mars Hill's JR Martin and Emory & Henry's Jarrell Harrison were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, while Wingate's Christian Teeter was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Martin, a senior from Suwanee, Ga., led Mars Hill to a 31-16 win over Anderson. He hit 18-of-28 passes, converting at a 64.3 percent clip, and threw for a pair of touchdowns and 345 yards. He added 10 carries for 36 yards and a rushing touchdown. With his team trailing 13-10, he ran for a TD to put the Lions up 17-13 in the third quarter. With the lead reduced to one, Marin threw a TD to seal the win.
Harrison, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., tied an Emory & Henry record with two pick-sixes in Saturday's Southwest Virginia Bowl game victory over UVA Wise. Harrison's first return for a touchdown covered 29 yards to put the Wasps up 20-0 and his second came in the third quarter and spanned 21 yards. He added two total tackles and a pass break up.
Teeter, a sophomore from West Columbia, S.C., had another impressive day as he helped the No. 24 Bulldogs notch their program-record third shutout of the season in a 38-0 win over Newberry. Teeter averaged 50 yards per punt on his three punts, with two more punts inside the 10. His first punt of the day was a 55-yarder that was downed at the Newberry one. He followed with a 53-yarder in the second quarter, while capping his day with a 42-yard punt that pinned the Wolves at their own 6.
