Lenoir-Rhyne Remains Nationally Ranked; Wingate Enters Poll
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- Lenoir-Rhyne moved up in the top 25 and Wingate entered the top 25 in this week's national football polls. The Bears remained at No. 17 in the D2Football poll and moved up to No. 19 in the AFCA poll while Wingate is No. 23 according to the AFCA.
The Bears jumped up a few spots in each poll with a 31-28 victory over Emory & Henry on Saturday on a 32-yard field goal as time expired. LR was No. 21 according to the AFCA last week.
Wingate enters the poll at No. 23 thanks to a 2-0 start to the regular season. Wingate opened the campaign with a 30-21 win over UNC Pembroke and throttled Bluefield St. 72-7 last week.
Each team will be in SAC play this week as LR travels to rival Carson-Newman while Wingate will go to UVA Wise.
