Newberry and Wingate Named to NCAA Division II Football Playoff Field

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference had two teams selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Football Playoffs as announced this evening.

The Newberry Wolves clinched the automatic berth to earn their spot in the field. The Wolves clinched a playoff spot with an 8-1 league mark. They received the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and will host Kentucky St. on Saturday. This will be the seventh NCAA bid for Newberry and the first since 2021.

The Wingate Bulldogs were announced as the No. 4 seed and are heading to the playoffs for the seventh time and the third time in the past four years. Wingate went 7-2 in league play and 9-2 overall to claim a spot in the field and won their final six games of the year. Wingate will play host to Benedict.
