SAC Selects Lenoir-Rhyne’s McClure, Wingate’s Harris as Basketball Players of the Week
Lenoir-Rhyne guard R.J. McClure and Wingate forward Kayla Harris have been voted as the SAC Basketball Players of the Week after impressive showings during the opening slate of conference games.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne guard R.J. McClure and Wingate forward Kayla Harris have been voted as the SAC Basketball Players of the Week after impressive showings during the opening slate of conference games.

McClure led Lenoir-Rhyne to a pair of conference victories over Queens and Anderson last week by averaging 30.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He opened the week by scoring a career-high 32 points - including a game-tying three that forced overtime – in L-R's 81-77 double overtime win against Queens on Wednesday.
The senior followed that with 29 points on Saturday in a 74-73 Bears victory over Anderson. He shot 48.4-percent from the field in the two games and connected on all 21 free throw attempts.
McClure is currently tied for the SAC lead in scoring at 25.2 points per game.
SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week | Kayla Harris, Wingate F
Harris averaged a double-double of 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds last week as Wingate split conference games with Catawba and Tusculum.
On Wednesday, Harris finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds in an 85-81 Bulldog loss to Catawba, and then went for 22 points and 11 boards on Saturday in an 89-69 WU victory at Tusculum. The senior shot 51.6-percent on the week and added four assists.
On the season, Harris is fifth in the SAC with a rebounding average of 7.8 per game, while her scoring average of 14 points per game is tied for 11th in the conference.
