Wingate Duo Tabbed as SAC Basketball Players of the Week
With Wingate’s men’s and women’s basketball programs going a combined 4-0 last week, Bulldog student-athletes Deion Turman and Janitsha Williams were selected as the SAC Basketball Players of the Week on Monday.

SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week | Deion Turman, Wingate
Turman averaged a double-double of 15.5 points and 12 rebounds last week as Wingate picked up victories over Anderson and Mars Hill to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Turman got his week started by posting 18 points and 13 rebounds on Wednesday in a 72-70 Wingate win at Anderson. He followed that performance with another double-double of 13 points and 11 boards on Saturday as WU won at Mars Hill, 80-63.
The senior center shot 58.3-percent from the field and added a pair of assists in the two games. He currently ranks second in the SAC in rebounding at 10.4 per game.
SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week | Janitsha Williams, Wingate
Williams earns SAC Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week after averaging 15.5 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who picked up road conference wins over Anderson and Mars Hill.
On Wednesday at Anderson, Williams finished with 20 points and nine rebounds in a thrilling 56-55 WU victory. She then posted her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 boards on Saturday in a 65-53 win at Mars Hill.
Williams also added four assists and two steals on the week. She ranks second in the SAC in scoring at 17 points per game and tied for fourth in rebounding at 8.1 per game.
