Brevard’s Moose, Lenoir-Rhyne’s Charles Claim SAC Basketball Weekly Awards
Brevard forward Darius Moose and Lenoir-Rhyne guard Jazmine Charles have been voted as the SAC Basketball Players of the Week following high-scoring performances from each student-athlete.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Brevard forward Darius Moose and Lenoir-Rhyne guard Jazmine Charles have been voted as the SAC Basketball Players of the Week following high-scoring performances from each student-athlete.
SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week | Darius Moose, Brevard
Moose had a monster week for Brevard, averaging 32.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Tornados split conference matchups with Tusculum and Catawba.
Moose got his week started by scoring a career-high 33 points and matching a career-best with 18 rebounds in a 101-90 BC win over Tusculum on Wednesday. The junior followed that with 32 points and five boards on Saturday in an 85-79 loss at Catawba. He shot 64.7-percent from the field in the two games, and added three assists and two steals.
On the season, Moose ranks third in the SAC in scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game.
SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week | Jazmine Charles, Lenoir-Rhyne
Charles averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and three assists last week while shooting 56.7-percent from the field, leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a 2-0 record and keeping the Bears one game behind the top spot in the conference standings.
Charles posted her second double-double of the season on Wednesday with 24 points and 12 rebounds in L-R's 71-61 victory over Wingate. She then went for 25 points, three rebounds and five assists on Saturday as the Bears handled Tusculum, 84-45.
The junior now leads the SAC in scoring at 18.2 points per game and is sixth in the conference in rebounding at 7.4 per game.
