AUGUSTA, Ga. - Five Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters netted double figures on Tuesday (March 14) evening leading LMU to an 89-83 win over USC Aiken in the championship game of the 2023 NCAA Division II Southeast Region tournament. With the win, the Railsplitters punch their ticket to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
Chase Rankin led the Railsplitters with 17 points and 10 rebounds and six assists, while Me'Kell Burries poured in 15 points off the bench with five rebounds. Luke Bartemes scored 14 points off the bench with five rebounds, as well, with Quay Kennedy and Matthew Sells scoring 11 points each. Kennedy grabbed seven boards and had four assists, while Sells pulled down three boards.
The Raisplitters will now head to Evansville, Indiana, for the Elite Eight which will start on March 21 at the Ford Center. The eight advancing teams will be reseeded following the completion of the regionals.
For the first time since 2018, the SAC will have a men's and women's basketball team advancing to the Elite Eight, following the Catawba women's basketball team's victory on Monday.
