Carson-Newman's Zhao Named South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard John Zhao has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week six of the 2023-24 season, the Conference announced today.

Zhao, a junior from Sevierville, Tenn., had a pair of 20-plus point performances as he led the Eagles to a 2-0 record with wins over Tusculum (83-73) and Anderson (94-81). Zhao poured in 23 points with six rebounds, an assist, and two steals versus the Pioneers, and then scored 21 points with six rebounds and a steal against the Trojans. For the week he averaged 22 points with six rebounds and shot 66.7 percent (14-for-21) from the field.
