Lenoir-Rhyne's Smith Nets SAC WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne guard Tay Smith has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week eight of the 2024-25 season, the Conference announced today.
Smith, a senior from Bowling Green, Ky., led the Bears to a win over Lincoln Memorial Saturday in a game that featured two top-25 teams. The No. 21 Bears topped No. 9 Lincoln Memorial thanks to a huge performance from Smith. He finished the game with 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting (81.8 percent) and went 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Smith added three rebounds, four assists and four steals as LR won its ninth straight and moved into sole possession of first place in the league standings.
