ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial forward Elyjah Freeman has been named the National Player of the Week by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) this afternoon.
Freeman, a freshman from Palm Beach, Fla., led the Railsplitters to wins over Carson-Newman and nationally-ranked Coker. Freeman went nuts in the two wins, scoring 36 and 35 points and recording double-doubles in each victory. His 36 points and 11 rebounds came in an 89-80 win over Carson-Newman and he followed that up with 35 points and 12 boards in a 109-82 win over Coker. He added 2.5 assists per game, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per contest as well. Freeman shot 65.9 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from long range in the wins.
Freeman is the second player from the SAC to earn a National Player of the Week honor this year. He joins Jack Browder from Carson-Newman who won on December 10.
