Carson-Newman's Zhao Named SAC WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard John Zhao has been named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week 11 of the 2024-25 season, the Conference announced today.
Zhao, a senior from Sevierville, Tenn., led the Eagles to two victories, including a 15-point comeback win over Anderson. Zhao averaged 25.5 points and 13 rebounds in two SAC games last week. The Eagle guard recorded his seventh career 30-point game against Anderson, scoring 23 points in the second half. For the week, Zhao shot 30.8% from beyond the arch and 53.8% from the field. Zhao now has 1,286 career points moving him into the top 25 all-time scoring list at Cason-Newman.
