Five Men's Basketball Teams in NCAA Regional Rankings

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) -- In the second edition of the NCAA's region rankings, the South Atlantic Conference had five men's basketball programs ranked in the top 10.

Lincoln Memorial paces the pack in the No. 2 spot with a 21-4 overall record. They are trailed by Lenoir-Rhyne at No. 4 who is 20-5 overall. Carson-Newman slots in at No. 7, ahead of Coker (No. 8) and UVA Wise (No.9)

The selection committee uses these rankings as a guideline to make up the NCAA Tournament field. The top eight teams in the region make the NCAA Tournament with three automatic bids going to the winners of the conference tournaments from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference. The other five spots will consist of at-large bids.
