Lincoln Memorial Clinches 13th SAC Regular Season Crown; Tournament Brackets Released
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial clinched its 13th SAC Regular Season title in program history with a 85-64 win over Limestone and earns the No. 1 seed in the 2025 SAC Men's Basketball Championship that tips on Tuesday.
The No. 1 and 2 seeds will play on Tuesday and earn a day of rest should they advance. The semifinals will take place Thursday, meaning the No. 3 and 4 seeds play Wednesday and would play three straight days to try to win a championship.
The Railsplitters earned their sixth straight SAC Regular Season title and posted a league winning percentage above .860 for the 10th time in the last 12 years.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be the No. 2 seed and the second-place finish in the SAC standings is the best since 2008-09 when they won the regular season title. Under first-year head coach Brent Owen, LR improved by ten wins in the conference since last season to go 20-4 but came one game shy of LMU.
Coker, UVA Wise and Carson-Newman finished the regular season with a 15-9 record. In that tiebreaker scenario, Coker earned the No. 3 seed with a 3-1 record head-to-head record against the other two teams. UVA Wise will be the No. 4 seed and Carson-Newman will be the 5-seed. The two teams split their regular season matchups but UVA Wise went 1-1 against No. 1 seed LMU while C-N went 0-2.
Catawba will be the No. 6 seed after a 104-54 win over UVA Wise to post a 14-10 mark in SAC play.
Anderson earned the seventh seed with a 12-12 record in conference action. The Trojans closed the regular season with a 75-46 win over Tusculum to secure the seventh spot.
Wingate grabs the last spot in the field with a 79-76 win against Mars Hill to post an 11-13 record in the conference.
